The James H. Warsaw Sports Marketing Center's Advisory Board announces the addition of Greg Lawrence.
Lawrence currently serves as executive vice president at Wasserman, a full-service sports and entertainment agency representing more than 1700 athletes, broadcasters, and coaches.
A 2002 University of Oregon alumnus, he brings his insights from 15 years of industry experience. Additionally, as a student, Lawrence was a member of the Oregon men's basketball team that captured the (then) PAC-10 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite 8.
“The center's founder and inspiration, Jim Warsaw, left an indelible impression on me both personally and professionally," Lawrence said. “I see this board as a prime opportunity to expose students to a fantastic array of career opportunities, while hopefully imparting some wisdom and support along the way. The fit couldn't be better. I'm bringing my passion for sports business together with my love for my alma mater and all things Ducks sports."
In his role at Wasserman, Lawrence represents and oversees the day-to-day affairs of numerous clients. He also is responsible for marketing, contract negotiations, and recruiting. Since joining Wasserman in 2005, he has led the industry in free agent contracts negotiated, maximum salary contracts negotiated, All-Star selections, and NBA draft lottery picks.
“Greg represents a company and a sector of the industry—integrated sports marketing agencies—that is a strong employment path and area of interest for our students," noted Whitney Wagoner, director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the UO Lundquist College of Business. “His direct experience at this level, coupled with a heart to serve students and the industry, is ideal as we elevate our board with even more expert voices."
With the addition of Lawrence, the Warsaw Advisory Board now counts ten members.
“Greg is a tremendous asset to our team," said board chair David Higdon. “We have remained true to our vision of strategically adding board members who represent different sectors and experiences, and Greg fits the bill given Wasserman's global reach and impact. He came highly recommended from board member Barbara Blangiardi and it's particularly timely to have him join as we continue to build momentum heading into our Warsaw 25 celebration."
